at Reserva Conchal

A community of communities, Reserva Conchal’s expansive 2,300 acres are carved into smaller, more intimate communities. Each (except for W Residences) of the resort’s residential communities – some, as small as just five residences – is named for local flora and often, for trees native to the province of Guanacaste.

Sanara

Sanara is the newest development at Reserva Conchal, representing a sustainable community and master plan that extends to three interconnected and dedicated areas for living, conservation, and agriculture. Phase 1 features just 30 homes on spacious private homesites, paired with walking trails, sports courts, yoga platforms, a splash park, kids playground, and a Clubhouse with an outdoor cinema and lounge area. Phase 2 will be announced in 2024.

W Residences

One of Reserva Conchal’s newer communities, W Residence is a Ronald Zürcher-designed concept developed to embody coexistence – with nature, with an active lifestyle, and with tropical living. Committed to blending in with its surroundings, rather than competing with them, W Residences offers the ultimate in luxury, featuring “tree houses” with private pools and fine detailing.

Guayacán Real

Roble Sabana

This planned community is one of Reserva Conchal’s most established, offering 20 luxury, ocean-view condominiums with covered terraces and magnificent views of the sun-kissed coastline and the cobalt Pacific. Three-bedroom condos offer the added luxury of a wrap-around balcony (240 square feet) that also overlooks the picturesque Catalina Islands. All terraces offer total privacy from your neighbors.

Melina at Reserva Conchal is an established community featuring just 12 gorgeous homesites and some of the best golf course views at Reserva Conchal. Homesites are expansive, ranging from grand (1/4 acre) to grander (over an acre). The community is comprised of spectacular, custom Spanish Colonial homes and the community’s shared common area offers a private swimming pool and lounge space.

Malinche

Nestled between tropical dry forest and azure ocean, Malinche Condominiums enjoy some of the most dramatic ocean views at Reserva Conchal. Reserva Conchal Beach Club and Spa

The community’s 60,000-square-foot Beach Club and Spa is an escape to entertainment and relaxation, including a sparkling ocean-view pool, an event center, casual dining restaurants, bars, a full spa menu, and beach and ocean activities. Beach Club access includes the use of the fitness center, hot tubs, steam rooms, Turkish baths, and saunas.

Reserva Conchal Golf Course

Designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones II and “Costa Rica’s best golf course” for three years running (World Golf Awards), this Top 25 Foreign Golf Resort (Conde Nast Magazine) and Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary incorporates comprehensive environmental management to protect the flora, fauna, and ecosystems that make their home where you take your swing.

While it’s beginner-friendly and an all-levels course, Reserva Conchal offers a serious challenge: A 7,021-yard, par-71 championship golf course, where you’ll combat the terrain and the elements – and the occasional errant iguana, as it scuttles across the green!

Reserva Conchal Wildlife Refuge

As part of the community’s commitment to the environment, Reserva Conchal partnered with the Costa Rican Ministry of the Environment to create a nearly 100-acre wildlife refuge and mangrove estuary. Here, you can spot 32 bird species, 8 reptile species, and a host of amphibians and mammals, including sloths, monkeys, and Guanacaste’s iconic white-tailed deer.

Hiking & Biking Trails

Many walking trails await discovery, looping through around many of Reserva Conchal’s residential communities – a favorite for hikers, bikers, and photography groups. The official hiking and biking trails wend for a total of nearly 18 kms (11+ miles), plus additional mileage on resort routes, and can take anywhere from 15 to 90 minutes to hike a single trail. If you prefer to take your travel onto two wheels, the community also links up to rides through the forests and backcountry of Guanacaste.

The exclusive W Hotel & The Westin Reserva Conchal share facilities with Reserva Conchal. Together, they combine to feature upscale amenities, including 12 restaurants, tennis courts, a fully equipped gym, and a lagoon-style swimming pool.

Architecture

Reserva Conchal is one community but thanks to its diverse residential communities, there is diversity in its architecture. Here, you’ll find everything from the traditional Spanish Colonial style to the most modern trends in contemporary home design.

Many of the community’s homes are designed by renowned Costa Rica architect Ronald Zürcher, who is well known for his tropical-modern designs and eco-forward planning, which adapts to the land (rather than forcing the land to adapt to a plan). Other architectural styles also have their influence here, creating a community that is at once cohesive while also being diverse.

Reserva Conchal

Sustainability

Reserva Conchal is rooted in a promise of three-fold sustainability: Environmental, Social, and Economic.

Designed to live in harmony with the environment, Reserva Conchal is home to a national wildlife refuge that protects 96 acres and many species of native wildlife. The community has installed 1,400 solar panels to generate their own electricity and offset 40 tons of carbon per year, and they participate in the annual Blue Flag Environmental Program, earning the Blue Environmental Flag, Sustainable Homes Blue Flag, Wildlife Refuge Blue Flag, and Community Blue Flag.

In 2016, Reserva Conchal launched Costa Rica’s first desalination plant, to irrigate the community and provide drinking water to residents and guests. In 2019, they launched a BE H2OK program to reuse existing plastic bottles, and are now working toward a plastics-free community. They turn organic waste into bokashi fertilizer and practice responsible waste management, through either recycling or reusing 85% of waste. They maintain both an organic garden and a tree nursery, home to 15,000 native and endemic trees.

Additionally, Reserva Conchal practices social and economic responsibility through a variety of programs: Their corporate volunteer program works in reforestation, food banks, emergency attention, beach cleaning, community maintenance, and support for indigenous communities. They donate to local fire rescue, a medical clinic, and the police. They have also partnered with the National Learning Institute on technical training, resulting in more than 240 graduates, and work to create both direct and indirect jobs in the region.
